Friends who are single? Is desperation contagious? (10 points)?

I have friends that are single and over 27-30, I'm almost 22 so I typically don't feel overly anxious about finding that special someone. I notice that after being around some of these girls I feel like I'm running out of time and only have a few years left...Is desperation contagious?
